Just a little quickie post — How about a little contest? Looking for a name for a new lace yarn line — 80% merino/20%silk. Lovely stuff (strong, smooth…love!). I’d love a name that evokes the wispy, ethereal feel of lace yarn, possibly something that is musical in nature, to accompany the 50/50 blend, “Ayre”. Random name to be chosen from commenters gets a skein of the new line in your choice of available colors (one entry per person, please).
Also, if you haven’t yet, head on over to the Facebook fan page to be the first to get news on all things Sereknity.

How about Waltz or Sonata? Thanks for the giveaway!

    My entries…

Adagio (A tempo having slow movement; restful at ease)

Grazioso (Word to indicate the movement or entire composition is to be played gracefully)

Perhaps, Divisi, which means divided, one performer plays the upper notes and the other the lower.

My entry is Lyra. It's a constellation. Its name derived from the lyre, a stringed musical instrument well known for its use in classical antiquity and later. Lyra was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union today. Lyra is a small constellation, but its principal star, Vega, is one of the brightest in the sky. Beginning at the north, Lyra is bordered by the Dragon Draco, the Greek hero Hercules, the little fox Vulpecula and Cygnus the swan.[2](Wikipedia) I believe it fits all your requests, musical in nature, ethereal, wispy, and accompanies Ayre quite well, if you ask me.

When I think of lace I think of it being flowing and graceful.

Your description of the yarn makes me think of Trill, the delicate little sound made by a flute.

  • Lora:

Glissando – sliding between two notes.

  • Manise:

It should be called Minuet after the fleece Laurie and I bought at Cummington. Gorgeous just like your new yarn. 🙂

  • Heddy:

Wisper … as in the wispynes of lace, and also the soft sound of a whisper.

  • Tori:

I vote for mistral, or borrasco- they are both Mediterranean wonds

  • Barbara:

How about: Arioso it means airy, or like an air (a melody); i.e., in the manner of an aria; melodious

Whatever you choose, I can't wait to see it!

a humourous suggestion – "Like buttuh." That's how Mike Meyers as Linda Richman described Barbara Streisand's legs.
