Been doing a bit of knitting, a bit of spinning, some designing, and lots and lots of PRODUCTION for Sereknity. Wouldn’t you know that I finally got the hang of my new camera and lighting studio, got enough product to do a “photo session”, finished the first of four sock kits to be listed (even got this one listed in esty late last night), and THIS is the weekend etsy is down to install the new version!! ARG! FIGURES! Oh well, it will have to wait until Monday, but until then, here is a sneak peek…
I also began knitting/designing a new sock (for Nora of Black Dog Knits) and I am using beads for the first time! I am using my hand dyed 50/50 merino/silk and I love how it is working up. My question is, do I continue the pattern down the foot of the sock w/o the beads? I personally like socks with a patterned foot, but you wouldn’t want to have a sock with beads on the foot, so will it look odd to have the pattern repeat omitting the beads? Also, I plan on making a sandal sock version of the heel — will a sandal sock look funny without a pattern down the foot to balance it out? I would LOVE feedback on this, and as you can see, you have time! I have a ways to go.Also completed were two skeins of two ply handspun. The first single was a local lambswool/angora blend in a heathery mix of white deep red and orange, and the second one of my own hand dyed fibers in a BL/Mohair blend, dyed to stripe in red and pumpkin, with some yellow thrown in the mix. I think it is comming out pretty cool! Can’t wait to see how it knits up.
As you may have noticed, I’ve been having fun experimenting with the new lighting studio. I’m not the only on — the elusize BooBoo decided he’d give it a try…lookd thrilled, doesn’t he?
Lots of dyeing to do over the next few days. Have to get ready for an in-home craft “show” of sorts being held in Rockport. Wish me luck!

    The beaded yarn looks fantastic.

Now, on a business note, where can I get the photo studio setup thingy?

Your photos are looking great! Isn’t it just like a cat to want to be the center of all the attention? I have a black cat, too, named Figaro, and she looks just like yours!

My vote is to keep going on the foot with the beads and all. I think the yarn will cushion the foot from the beads and it will be unusual and gorgeous.

Thank so much for the comments — I think you may be right, Ellene, about the yarn cushioning the foot — from the inside they cannot be seen hardly at all.
Jessie, my husband got the studio for me for my b-day at Ritz camera. I found a version of it on ebay… http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140050906220&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX_Stores&refitem=300044603857&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget
It is called a portable lighting studio. Really is making a difference and comes with a tiny trippod as well. Not the best (by any means) but better than my caffeine infected hands.

Wow! Your photos look AWESOME (of course the lovely SUBJECTS for the photos also have something to do with that)! Craftilicious 😀

Wow! LOVE The pics…that studio rocks! Love the way the new sock is coming out and can’t wait to see everything in person!

  6. Nora says:

WOWOWOWOW!!! A beaded sock!! How gorgeous!
I say: Go with the beads ALL THE WAY! Yarnartist is probably right – the little seed beads will be cushioned. Thing is, will shoes rubbing against them cause them to break/come off?
    I couldn’t bear it! xx

Very nice photos! I love the new yarn as well. I can’t help but fall in love with every skein of yarn you produce. I was at your etsy shop just before they shut down and couldn’t decide between a couple skeins. “That’s OK,” I thought, “I’ve got the weekend to decide.” Argh! I should have just bought them both.

  8. yarnophiliac says:

no worries Caroline! Not like anyone else could buy anything out from under you! lol and thanks for the complements (wait ’til u see what I list Monday …hehehe…and u guys call Gina the yarn pusher…)

The new photo studio ROCKS – those photos came out amazing! Can’t wait to see what you list and what you’re working on for Rockport too!
